By the Millpond:
the quarterly newsletter

In late 2008, I initiated a reimagining of the library's quarterly newsletter, By the Millpond. It had previously been published as a conventional single-sheet newsletter, printed in one ink, spotlighting library events. My proposal was to make it an appealing, general-inteest publication, representing the library as a community member and featuring original material from library staff and patrons as well as from area businesspeople. The page count has gone up (we currently run 28 pages). The increase in cost was offset by soliciting grants and paid advertising.

The covers presented below are entirely my work, except as noted: I photographed the "white kid" sculptures, which were crafted by Joy Hyman (June 2010); I colored the Edgar Allan "Poe Art," which was drawn by Debbie Lane (September 2010).

All of the issues can be downloaded in full from the library's Web site, as can the six issues that I produced in the old format (and two of the issues produced by my predecessor). I edited and laid out each of these issues, and wrote or drew anything that's not explicitly credited to someone else (and some things that are).
